9th R.C. Chopra Memorial Moot Court Competition by st soldier law college
Two Days 9th R.C. Chopra Memorial Moot Court Competition hosted by St. Soldier Law College was inaugurated by Justice Mahavir Singh Chauhan, Former Judge of Punjab & Hry High Court and Chairman Police Complaints Authority, Chandigarh. In the Presence of 32 teams from 13 states of the country, Chairman of the group Sh. Anil Chopra, Vice Chairperson Mrs. Sangeeta Chopra, M.D. Manhar Arora, Campus Director Dr. Veena Dada and others, the College Director Prof( Dr). Subhash C. Sharma welcomed the Chief Guest and teams. He also gave an outline of the competition St. Soldier Group and the host law College. Student Co-ordinator Ms. Manvi read the rules of the competition and teacher Co-ordinator Prof. Sandeep Rani detailed the rounds. Dean Academics in the College Prof. Simi Thind presented vote of thanks.
In his inaugural address, Justice Chauhan Complimented the host management and underscored the importance of moot court competitions in sharpening the communication and drafting skills of the budding lawyers and judges. Giving tips for becoming successful lawyers, Justice Chauhan advised them to be polite and humble in the court room, control emotions, converse and not lecture the judge because court room is not a drama stage. Emphasizing the importance of good drafting, he said it is like a love letter that should have the language and communication skill of winning the ‘girlfriend’. Closing his address Justice Chauhan phrase the quote a legal luminary Fali Nariman which suggests a counsel to be precise and well equipped in communication and law. Justice Chauhan summed up Advocacy is like selling computer to Bill Gates. He wished best of luck to the participating teams.
The inauguration was followed by Preliminary, Pre-quarter-final and quarter final rounds of the competition. Senior Advocates and law teachers from different universities including Dr. Jaspal Singh, Dr. Pawan Bhatia, Dr. Aman Cheema, Dr. A.K. Sharma, Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Dr. Komal Mehta, Dr. Rattandeep, Adv Harnek Singh, Dr.Vinod Sharma, Adv. Devinder Gupta, Adv. Rahul Ramapl and Adv. Abha Nagar acted as Judges. Tomorrow the Semi-final and finale of the competition shall be held.
